Dear Members, Colleagues, and Friends,

It is my honour and privilege to serve as the 8th President of the Obesity and Metabolic Surgery Society of Singapore (OMSSS). I am deeply grateful for the trust placed in me and the incoming EXCO, and I look forward to building on the strong foundations laid by our past leadership, whose commitment, hard work, and vision have shaped OMSSS into the vibrant and respected society it is today.

As we enter a new chapter, the landscape of metabolic and bariatric surgery continues to evolve rapidly. Rising rates of obesity, shifting patient needs, and advances in medical, surgical and endoluminal therapies remind us that our work is more important than ever. OMSSS remains committed to leading the way in clinical excellence, research, training, and multidisciplinary collaboration—both locally and within the Asia-Pacific region.

In the coming term, our priorities will include:

​

• Strengthening education and training, with enhanced opportunities for residents, young surgeons, and allied health partners.

• Promoting evidence-based practice, through scientific meetings, workshops, and collaborative research.

• Building stronger partnerships, particularly with regional societies, global organisations, and our wider healthcare community.

• Enhancing public awareness, to support early intervention, holistic care, and long-term outcomes for patients living with obesity.

Most importantly, we will continue to uphold OMSSS as an inclusive platform where ideas are shared, new leaders are nurtured, and the collective expertise of our members drives meaningful progress.

​

I invite each of you to remain engaged—whether through contributing to our academic activities, supporting our initiatives, or offering feedback that helps us grow. Together, we can shape the future of metabolic and bariatric care in Singapore and beyond.
